What is a Non-Lucrative Visa?

The non-lucrative visa is a type of residence permit that allows non-EU nationals to live in Spain provided that they meet 2 main requirements. The 2 crucial requirements of the non-lucrative visa are that:

Non-lucrative visa holders must not work when they are residing in Spain
Non-lucrative visa holders must prove that they have sufficient funds to support themselves while living in Spain

The non-lucrative visa grants applicants’ residency for 1 year, they can then renew this for up to 4 years providing that they continue to meet the requirements. After 5 years of continuous residency, non-lucrative visa holders can then make their residency in Spain permanent.

Here is a brief list of the MAJOR NLV Requirements, please read and check you would meet them:

Finances

Single Applicants need to prove that they have at least €28,800 passive income or savings for the initial year of their residence permit.

Additional dependants need to prove that they have at least €7,200 available as funds for their non-lucrative visa application.

Proof That You Are No Longer Working

Applicants must provide evidence that they are no longer working, this being a P45. However, if you were self-employed, you need to get a document from HMRC which confirms that you are no longer working.
