Requirements
What is a Non-Lucrative Visa?
The Spanish Non-Lucrative Visa allows non-EU citizens to live in Spain without working, making it ideal for retirees or those with passive income. Applicants must show sufficient financial means, hold private health insurance, and provide key documents such as a valid passport, medical certificate, police clearance, and proof of accommodation. Additional paperwork is required for couples and families. This visa is granted initially for one year and can be renewed. For full details and a complete list of requirements, visit our Non-Lucrative Visa Requirements page.
What is a Study Visa?
The Spanish Student Visa enables non-EU/EEA citizens to study, train, volunteer or do internships in Spain when their stay exceeds 90 days. To obtain it, applicants must submit a valid passport, a completed visa application, a recent passport-style photo, proof of acceptance to a recognised Spanish educational institution (or approved programme), and evidence of payment of tuition or enrollment fees. Applicants must also show they have sufficient financial means (based on Spain’s IPREM standard), hold valid health insurance, and, if required by the consulate, present a medical certificate and a clean criminal record. If the stay is longer than six months, the student must apply for a foreigner’s identity card (TIE) after arrival, and family members (spouse, partner, children) may join under additional financial requirements.
